Sam is a ceramic artist working with bold, expressive form and surface. Originally trained in graphic arts, his practice shifted into clay as a way to engage more directly with material, process, and touch.
Based at Colchester Makerspace since 2019, he develops his work alongside teaching wheel-throwing. His approach combines clean, functional forms with gestural brushwork, carving, and graphic surface.
His work sits between control and spontaneity - refined shapes carrying active, visible marks. Through contrast, movement, and texture, he explores how everyday objects can hold both utility and expression.
